Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Recently went to see the musical version of Les Miserables for the first time. It was AMAZING. One of the most inspiring things I have had the pleasure to see! I have a lot of respect for people who can adapt and write such a successful stage version of such an immense novel. So much depth to include, and conflict, and characterization. Javert is fascinating!
Next to read on my list:
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Middlemarch by George Eliot
We'll see how they turn out! I'm pretty excited. I flew back to Boston for a conference, so there should be quite a bit of downtime between symposiums and seminars for me to catch up on a little bit of reading.
What did you think about The Game of Thrones? I heard nothing but good things.

ReplyDeleteI'd had folks tell me to get started on Game of Thrones, but it's so huge! Definitely the next door-stopper series on my list.
